AMP Members Receive National Recognition for Excellence in Public Power with RP3 Designation

COLUMBUS, OH: Several American Municipal Power, Inc. (AMP) Member utilities were awarded the Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3) recognition from the American Public Power Association (APPA) during the association’s annual Engineering & Operations Technical Conference, which took place April 7 to 10 in New Orleans.

The RP3 designation, which lasts for three years, recognizes public power utilities that demonstrate proficiency in four key disciplines: reliability, safety, workforce development and system improvement. Criteria include sound business practices and a utility-wide commitment to safe and reliable delivery of electricity.

Diamond Level

The following AMP Members received 2024 RP3 Diamond Level (highest level) designation, awarded to utilities that successfully meet 98-100 percent of the RP3 program criteria:

  • Bowling Green Electric Division
  • Coldwater Board of Public Utilities
  • Piqua Power System

Platinum Level

The following AMP Members received 2024 RP3 Platinum Level designation, awarded to utilities that successfully meet 90-97 percent of the RP3 program criteria:

  • Lansdale Electric Department
  • Orrville Utilities

Gold Level

The following AMP and DEMEC Members received 2024 RP3 Gold Level designation, awarded to utilities that successfully meet 80-89 percent of the RP3 program criteria:

  • Borough of Ephrata Electric Division
  • City of Seaford (DEMEC)
  • Lewes Board of Public Works (DEMEC)
  • Wapakoneta Electric Department

“These Member utilities have shown a commendable dedication to system reliability, operational efficiency, safety practices, workforce development and more,” said Michelle Palmer, AMP Vice President of Technical Services and Compliance. “These designations were hard earned and serve as a testament to the work they have undertaken to provide their communities with superior service. AMP congratulates all those have earned this distinction.”

According to APPA, 91 public power communities were awarded RP3 designations during the conference. Nationwide, 254 public power utilities hold the RP3 designation.
