Services - Generation Management

AMP-Ohio staff operates, maintains and dispatches 580 Megawatts (MW) of generation. Of the 580 MW AMP-Ohio owns 343 MW consisting of a 194 MW (net) coal fired power plant located in Marietta, Ohio, 7.3 MW of diesel generation and 142 MW of gas turbine generation. The remaining 237 MW of generation is member owned through Joint Ventures (JV). The JVs consist of JV1, 9 MW of diesel generation, JV2, 138.6 MW of both diesel and gas turbine generation, JV5, 42 MW of hydro generation, and JV6, 7.2 MW of wind turbine generation.

All of this generation is operated in the most effective way to achieve the lowest cost of power supply to the members that purchase the generation's power and energy. Staff is constantly evaluating such things as fuel acquisition, emissions reduction, maintenance improvements and economic dispatch to achieve the highest efficiencies and effectiveness for this generation. If you have questions for AMP-Ohio staff, feel free to contact Jack LaVeck, assistant vice president of generation services at AMP-Ohio at (614) 337-6222 or by e-mail at jlaveck@amp-ohio.org.
