Services - Transmission Affairs
AMP-Ohio staff follows both PJM and the Midwest ISO tariff and business rules development. In order to ensure the economical use of generation, member owned and joint venture, as well as purchase power contracts AMP-Ohio is active in the stakeholder meetings of both Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs). This enables AMP-Ohio to better advise members on generation and power supply decisions.
When participation in the RTO stakeholder process is not enough, AMP-Ohio files complaints at FERC to attempt to protect its members’ rights. Over the past several years the necessity for protesting various tariff and business rule decisions by the RTOs and other entities in the electrical industry has increased significantly. AMP-Ohio works closely with law firms in Washington, DC to represent the membership.
Using the knowledge and contacts gained in both the RTO and FERC proceedings; AMP-Ohio is able to help its members navigate the tariffs and business rules for generation interconnections and additional tieline interconnections. AMP-Ohio is also now acting as the Network Integration Transmission Service holder on behalf of several members that receive power supply from other entities. AMP-Ohio is able to use its existing 24-hour dispatch center and other personnel as the point of contact on behalf of members that have power supply contracts with marketers that are not willing to take Network Integration Transmission Service on behalf of the municipal.
